           The day of your spray tan or the night before, shower & exfoliate from head to toe.  

 

Many scrubs have heavy oils in it so unless you are using our preferred exfoliator available through Tami's, exfoliating with a wet wash cloth or loofah with no product or very minimal product on it is best to avoid any residue left on the skin.  

​

You must come to your appointment with no lotions on so once you have had your last shower & exfoliated, No lotions or oils can be applied to the skin.

​

Do not shower less than 3 hours before your spray tan appointment. Your skin needs time to dry.

​

You may tan in the garment of your choice or ladies may be sprayed with thong only. Old underwear works well.

​

Bringing loose clothes to wear home & weather appropriate attire ( please no leggings, tight jeans, sports bras or bike shorts) would be most comfortable for the 30 minutes while your spray tan is processing. 

 

You must wait atleast 8-12 hours to shower to rinse bronzer off. 

 Do Not use any body wash or lotions at this time. 

(Do not exceed over 24 hours before your first shower)

 The day of your spray tan while processing &  before your first shower avoid any lotions 

& working out.

 

  When you have showered moisturize 1-2 times daily to keep your tan lasting longer.

 

   Avoid Shaving for at least 24 hours after your spray tan.

 

The following items can inhibit the fade and length of your tan: 

 Dove Body Wash, Body Scrubs, Bar soaps & Loofahs.

We do offer soaps and lotions that are for spray tanners to help take care of your spray tan!

Q & A

 

Q: How long will the tan last?

A: Your tan should last around 7-10 days or 5-7 days if you are using our fast dry solution  but this will be affected by how you take care of it. Also putting on lotion everyday will help keep your skin hydrated, happy and healthy. The healthier your skin, the longer your tan will last.

 

Q: I have an event coming up when should I get my spray tan done?

A:  We recommend 1-3 days before an event. For brides we do recommend 2 days before.  You will need to have a minimum of one shower before your event to get the instant bronzer off as that is when your spray tan looks the best & is set in to your skin. 

 

Q: What if I have a very fair skin that has never been able to tan?

A: Hey, this is exactly why the spray tanning was designed in the first place, for people that could not tan by any other method! Most probably you will get a fantastic color with spray tan! Of course, people that tan easily will tan too.

 

Q: What happens the day of my spray tan?

A: Once sprayed, you will have an instant bronzed look produced by the bronzer in the solution , and the tan will develop over the next 8-12 hours at this time you will gain around 2 shades. After showering you will lose one full shade and it’s normal for the bronzer to wash away leaving the developed tan. 

 

Q: Will spray tan protect me from getting a sunburn?

A: No! When going into the sun, you must wear sun protection. The only way it will help to protect you is that you will not be tempted to sun bake since you will have your tan already.

 

Q: What is the difference between a Custom Spray Tan & Express Spray Tan?

A: Our custom spray tans are our signature service. We are able to create you a custom color to best suit your skin tone which needs 24 hours of developing time and lasts around 7-10 days. Our express spray tans are great for same day events if you need to shower the bronzer off in 3-4 hour. It will appear you have color when rinsing but does still take 24 hours to fully develop. There is also 2 color options for the express vs around 15 with our custom spray tans.

 

Q: Does the solution come off on clothing ?

A: The day you get your spray tan is the only time people see a bit of spray come off on your clothes inside. The solutions are water soluble and will come off in the wash and do not stain. Once you have your first shower it is set in and you will not see any spray tan products coming off on your clothing. If you do still see a bit coming off after your first shower that means you haven't rinsed the bronzer off well enough or on rare occasions the skin PH balance can be off. Our Tanfinity bar soaps are great for PH Balance and prolonging your spray tan.

 

Q: How long does a spray tan take to get done?

A: The spray tan process from walking in the door, prepping & getting sprayed and drying is about 20 minutes.

( You will feel tacky for the first 1/2 hour when you leave).
 

Q: What is the difference between an airbrush spray tan and a booth?

A: Airbrush technicians control the amount of solution on the hands, feet and other areas that need to appear more natural. Also, the breathing factor is much better. You can breath normal and not worry about solution being sprayed out all over the place. A booth just sprays out & you hope that you are standing in the correct position.

 

Q:I had bad experience with a spray tan before. Should I assume that spray tanning is not for me?

A: No, there are many factors that could affect your tan; the skill of the technician (if tanned with hand held gun), the quality of solution, your skin condition at the time, not prepping or also the quality of product used. 98% of our customers have absolutely no issues with there tan. If you leave your appointment with a full even coverage that means we got your entire body covered. If you notice spots that may look "missed" after you shower something has caused it not to develop. Q: Is it okay to go without a bathing suit?

A: Yes, if you do not want tan lines you can get your spray tan from just underware or thong. It will be a girl spray tanning you.

Q: How brown will I get?

A: Everybody’s skin develops its own individual color. Some people go a few shades darker brown, some may just get a glow. We have multiple solutions to choose from. We will also do a consultation with you when you come in to match your desired tone.

Q: Will I spray tan evenly if I have hair on my legs/arms?

 A: For the best results shaving or waxing what you normally maintain 24 hours before hand is always better for the tan.

Q: Does the solution have unpleasant smell like some self-tanners on the market?

A: No! The solutions we use has the newest technology in odor inhibitors that eliminates the dreaded "sunless smell".

Q: I am going on vacation will it come off in the water faster?

A: The best thing to help your tan last longer when going in pools or hot tubs is wearing a waterproof sunblock. It helps protect your skin from the chemicals. You will not physically see your spray tan coming of in the pool or ocean.

Q: Can I spray tan while pregnant?

A: At Tami's we tend to spray tan many mommies to be on a weekly basis. DHA doesn't penetrate the skin or enter the bloodstream.  As your body goes through a lot of change during pregnancy we would recommend waiting until after your first trimester to ensure that the tan sticks to your skin. If you are having a high risk pregnancy please consult a physician first. If you want more information on spray tanning while pregnant please contact us.

Q: I have other beauty services booked which should I do first?

A: Spray tans should be one of the last services you get before an event if possible. If you have pedicures, manicures, waxing or eyelash extension appointments it should be done before your spray tan. If you are doing pedicures or manicures the same day as your appointment make sure NO lotions are applied.

Q: Can I get a spray tan when I have tattoos?

A: Yes! It does not effect the coloring of tattoo's and will just look like a normal tan would from the sun. If you have a fresh tattoo wait at least 10 days. 

 

Q: Does a spray tan cover up my tan lines?

A: spray tans can cover up tan lines up to 70-80%, The result will be dependent on the width and shade difference between the tan line and your natural skin tone.

 

Q: Can I wear make up the day of my spray tan?

A: We recommend you do not wear any make up to your appointment. A few hours after your appointment you are able to put on light make up if needed. 

 

 

A Few Spray Tan Facts

 

They get darker before they get lighter- Don’t freak out! The solution continues to develop over the next 24 hours, so if you think your tan is too tan, it will lighten up! We just don’t recommend wearing you favorite white top the day of your spray tan.

 

 

What you use for body wash effects your tans development - A lot of the time if someone is not getting close to a week out of there spray tans it is most likely the type of products being used for aftercare. There is a list above in our aftercare of what products should be avoided during any spray tan. We also recommend sulfate free. Also our Tanfinity after care products offer the best solution. Available to purchase online or at your appointment!

 

The first shower the rinse off -  Once you do wash up, you’re going to notice that some of your tan is coming off but don't panic  — this is just the cosmetic bronzing solution used in the tan. 

Usually by the third day and after a normal shower and lots of moisturizer your color is the best!!

 

Dark spray tans don't work for every skin type -  We strive on giving the most natural looking spray tan possible by recommending what is BEST for your natural skin tone. What may have worked for your friend may not work for you. We want you to have a tan you love for the entire week which also means we may say NO  if you want to be way darker then we recommend for your skin type because at Tami's we don't do "fake"

 

Waiting days to have your first shower will not make your tan last longer or make you darker - We always let our clients know to take there first shower 8-12 hours after the spray tan was applied. Leaving the bronzer on to long (24 Hours+) does not benefit you and can dry out your skin. The color looks the best after rinsing the developing layer off.
